ANNOUNCEMENTS•
The Dutch soil research company Fugro sank on the Damrak.
The company was at 12:00 with a loss of more than 27%. reporting from the Pointer search program this weekend that the company may have caused Brazil’s deadly 2019 mining disaster. Fugro calls Pointer’s report one-sided.
Dambreuk
Fugro was carrying out the drilling work on the dam for the Brazilian mining company Vale. Four company employees were killed. According to Pointer, a police report claims that those drilling operations were the cause of the dam breaking.
Pointer also refers to a independent research report since May this year, where a Spanish research organization mentions drilling activities as a possible cause of the breakthrough.
‘One-sided and suggestive’
Fugro defines the transmission as one-sided and suggestive. A company spokesman says previous investigations have been concluded and no action has been taken against Fugro. Fugro also says there is no new information in Pointer’s report.
The Brazilian court is investigating the case, the company says. “We are working on this and until there is some result, we cannot provide an explanation.”
