Fugitive from Connecticut facing multiple violent crime charges caught in New York

A man accused of firing multiple shots at his ex-girlfriend’s home last month was arrested in the Bronx, New York, on Wednesday.

The US Marshals Service said the New York/New Jersey Regional Tactical Fugitive Unit apprehended Luis Minaya of New Britain. He allegedly fled the scene of the February 19 shooting before police arrived.

After an investigation, the police obtained an arrest warrant for Minaya. Several police departments, along with the Regional Fugitive Task Force, worked together to locate and arrest Minaya.

New York officials arrested him in the Bronx on Wednesday. He is awaiting arraignment and will eventually be extradited to Connecticut.

The US Marshals Service said Minaya currently has seven active Connecticut warrants ranging from assault on police to sexual assault.

He currently faces charges including first degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge and possession of a firearm, and more.
