The price of Superior Fuel in the Central Zone rose to $4.64, the most expensive fuel offer on the local market; with a price variation of up to $0.23 cents compared to the same period of the previous year.
This offer is followed by those focused on the Western and Central Zones, with prices of $4.61 and $4.60, respectively. On the other hand, the fuel offers with the cheapest prices are those for Diesel Fuel, which range from $3.95 in the Central Zone, $3.96 in the Western Zone to $3.99 in the Eastern Zone.
The recent stabilization of prices responds, among other things, to the upward variation in international market prices, as detailed by the General Directorate of Hydrocarbons and Mines (DGHM). This condition can be seen, of course, with the increase in the prices of a barrel from the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) company, which went from $80.90 dollars since January to $85.28 dollars in the month of April 2024; That is, an increase of up to $4.22 so far this year.
Similarly, the prices per barrel of the Organization of Petroleum Producing and Exporting Countries (OPEC) have risen to $4.14 in the same period, going from $80.27 to $84.13; as well as the prices of Brent barrel, which went from $81.04 to $85.41 dollars on the respective dates.
However, the variation in prices in the domestic market has not been so significant, because the Ministry of Finance has subscribed, among other things, the subsidy for petroleum products, with a contribution of up to $51,435,160.00 dollars from the Temporary Program. of Support for the Fuel Crisis in El Salvador (BCI No. 2296).
