In the recent period, unfavorable news arrived after the oil price reached a six-month peak, which in the past few days exceeded the level of ninety dollars per barrel. There are several reasons behind this, as reported by Magyar Nemzet. The head of Századvég’s climate and energy policy department indicated that geopolitical developments – the escalation in the Middle East and Ukraine’s attacks on oil refineries in Russia – are responsible for a significant part of the price increase. Russia’s third largest refinery was also hit. It is the facility that is the most modern of all, moreover, it is located 1,300 kilometers from the front line. The President of Ukraine admitted that the US administration asked his country to end these actions, because even the United States is unpleasantly affected by the price increase. Especially since there will be elections in the foreseeable future.
“As long as these conflicts are not alleviated, the oil market storms will intensify from time to time,” emphasized Olivér Hortay.
