FTC’s Appeal Denied: Microsoft and Activision Blizzard Merger Set to Proceed, Pending British CMA Decision

On July 11, the FTC’s proceedings against the merger between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard ended in favor of the companies. The outcome did not sit well with the FTC, so it filed an appeal.

But she too was rejected. The decision was taken by the Ninth U.S. District Court. So the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard may be closed already on Monday. Her deadline is July 18th.

However, the issue with the British CMA has not yet been resolved. The regulator postponed the decision, as Microsoft and Activision may give away part of their cloud business. These indulgences should help resolve the merger. It is assumed that the approval could be issued soon, despite reports of possible investigations.
