Jakarta, Beritasatu.com – On Thursday (29/6/2023), lawyers for the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and Microsoft, which is seeking to acquire Activision Blizzard, exchanged their final arguments before a judge who is considering terminating a $69 billion (Rp. 1,000 trillion).

The FTC had asked a judge to block the acquisition because, they argued, it would give Microsoft, maker of Xbox consoles, exclusive access to game-game Activision included Call of Dutyeither one game best seller of all time. That would put Nintendo and the Sony Group on the margins, according to the FTC.

Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella, attempted to allay those concerns on Wednesday. When asked if Microsoft would have an incentive to shut down Sony’s PlayStation access to sell more Xbox consoles, Nadella replied: “It doesn’t make sense economically and strategically.”

To address the FTC’s concerns, Microsoft has agreed to grant licenses Call of Duty to its competitors.

The FTC has asked Judge Jacqueline Scott Corley in San Francisco to temporarily halt completing the deal so that judges there can decide the case.
