The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is closely examining Microsoft’s deal with Activision Blizzard, as well as other company activities. In this regard, a commission spokesperson recently said that Microsoft gave assurances to the EU regulator that ZeniMax games would not become Xbox-exclusive.
The EU supervisory body sent a rebuttal to this – there was no such deal, and the commission fully approved the Microsoft / ZeniMax deal. According to Microsoft, the issue of exclusivity will be considered game by game.
Now Microsoft is in the process of acquiring Activision Blizzard and this deal will definitely affect not only the console war but the entire situation in the gaming market. Whether this will help establish another monopoly or whether the grass will just get a little greener is still an open question.
