FS and Poste, double agreement for the digitalisation of passenger and goods transport

MILANO- Il FS group e Italian post have signed two separate agreements today, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of passenger transport and a Letter of Intent in the field of freight transport, with the aim of developing sustainable, innovative and digital solutions so as to simplify people’s travel experiences and enhance intermodality in logistics. The two companies made this known. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Luigi Ferraris CEO of the Fs Italiane group, Matteo Del Fante, CEO of Poste Italiane, Luigi Corradi CEO of Trenitalia and Marco Siracusano, CEO of PostePay.

“With the agreements signed today we aim to simplify the payment methods for travel tickets for our vehicles – states Ferraris – and to improve the digitalisation of freight transport with a view to perfecting the multimodal rail-road offer in Europe, providing innovative solutions and sustainable ones capable of integrating rail services with first and last mile road services”.

“The partnership with the FS group opens a new chapter in our journey in logistics and digital – comments Del Fante – Our technologies can make easily accessible and secure advanced payment solutions available to travellers, also offering a digitalised logistics platform in able to control the entire freight transport chain to create a sustainable intermodal transport system in Italy and Europe”.

The Letter of Intent (LoI) – explains a note – was signed by Ferraris, Del Fante, Sabrina De Filippis, CEO of Mercitalia Logistics and David Nothacker, CEO of sennder in order to develop a sustainable and digitalized logistics network.

In particular, Mercitalia Logistics, leader of the Logistics Hub of the Fs group and sennder, a German company active in the digitalisation of road freight transport and partner of Poste Italiane, will collaborate to expand the logistics network of intermodal freight transport in Europe. The partnership – it is underlined “aims to improve the competitive offer of both companies, guaranteeing intermodal, innovative and sustainable logistics solutions in Europe, which bring together the railway services of the Logistics Hub with those of the first-last mile road with green vehicles of sennder”.
