Frostpunk from 2018 is one of those games that you definitely don’t want to relax in (see our reviews). Managing a small colony of people plagued by frost requires many unpleasant decisions that may not make you sleep.

Is it better to send children to work or not to waste valuable human resources on such a necessary activity as digging graves? To set daily food rations with sawdust and risk disease, or simply to expel the least efficient members of society beyond the settlement? Similar dilemmas are on the regular agenda of the day in Frostpunk, and even though the game keeps a strategic distance all the time and never offers explicit footage of the consequences of your actions, it can disgust weaker characters in a similar style as such The Last of Us 2.
Polish developers from 11 bit studios have earned many awards for their work, including a nomination for the prestigious BAFTA award, so it is not entirely surprising that they want to develop their brand further. You can’t expect a revolution from the newly announced second part, but it’s not to the detriment – there are very few similar games, so they haven’t been able to watch them yet.
The plot will be set 30 years after the event of the last episode, but the world around it has not changed much. Coal reserves are already dwindlingly shorter, so you will have to turn to a new source of energy – oil. However, not all survivors will appreciate this change, so in addition to technological difficulties, you will also have to resolve internal political conflicts. In addition to your own life, can you maintain humanity in difficult conditions?
However, we will have to wait for some time for an answer, the game does not even have an approximate release date at the moment, so it is not even certain if it will be available next year. So far, only the PC version for GOG, Epic Store and Steam is planned.
