In the video for “Fool”, the FrontMan project exposes front manhood in all its silliness (Photo: André Simonow)
Music gets people moving. Some bob their feet and shake their hair, others swing their hips, still others nod their heads, or all at the same time. And not only when listening, but also when making music. Movement is part of this and is also to be understood as an expression of moods and attitudes. Just what? To see through that, you have to take a closer look.
The phenomenon can be observed wherever there is music. The world of classic male rock stars and their documented live performances and music videos, however, has very special visual material to offer. This is what FrontMan, the fake rock band around the Hamburg artist Juliana Oliveira, thought. And – the name already gives it away – have set about the artistic-performative processing of the frontman myth. What it looks like: completely silent live concerts with a lot of movement and pose, but without music. A revue of the great rock star gesture repertoire.
Now the group has released their first, well, music video. “Fool” is the name of the piece, and the band shows all the force and silliness of the silent front manhood in a swimming pool. Dive with microphone stand and fronds with wet mane included. The music video for “Fool” was released via Hanseplatte / Misitunes and was produced by Juliana Oliveira, Helena Ratka, Lois Bartel, Greta Granderath, Ilona Klein, Katja Kruglikova, Nika Breithaupt and Kim Walz.
