Frontal system generated power outages in 13 communes – La Discusión

Due to the strong winds – up to 60 km/h – and rainfall that were recorded yesterday, due to the passage of a frontal system, power outages were reported in 13 communes in the Ñuble region, affecting approximately 50 thousand homes.

According to the regional presidential delegate, Gabriel Pradenas, the service has been gradually restored in the affected areas.

“In the context of the meteorological alert, the teams are deployed in different communes in the region to be able to restore the supply of electrical energy as quickly as possible. We, through the technical table that we have with Senapred and the rest of the related institutions, have constant monitoring of the channels, rivers and canals, but also of the energy supply, and there I want to highlight that during the day, between At approximately 12:00 and 17:00, there was an impact that affected nearly 50 thousand customers who suffered the supply cut, and at this minute (7:30 p.m.), that figure has decreased to 8 thousand customers who are still affected, concentrated mainly in the communes of Ñiquén, San Ignacio, Quillón, El Carmen and San Carlos.”

Pradenas added that, “without prejudice to the above, there are also effects in other communes, where we have brigades deployed, such as Trehuaco, Quirihue, Pemuco, Yungay, Coelemu, Chillán, Bulnes and Coihueco.”

“We will be monitoring the progressive progress until we restore total supply and the customers who have been affected by this front system,” the authority closed.

On the other hand, no river overflows or victims were reported.
