With a huge open world map, you have to start restricting where the player goes, how they move around the map, the speed of the mechs, things like that. This creates stress that we don’t want to add to the game. So we want to open up a little bit. With these more constrained and curated maps, we can have more control over that and give these mechs a lot more freedom as they move through the map.
In order to save the depth of the assembly mechanic, the armored core dropped the idea of giving us a planet to explore.
