“From Welfare to Accompaniment: A Paradigm Shift in Cáritas’ Approach to Human Rights” – Review and Index

Review

Moving from Welfare to accompaniment is not simply a change of words, but a change of paradigm that resonates deeply in the heart of Cáritas and its work. It assumes a horizontal, egalitarian view that is directed toward our brothers and sisters with respect and understanding.

In this new approach, we observe their lives with a merciful and hopeful gaze, aware that each individual is a unique being, endowed with capacities and potentials. We stop focusing exclusively on their material needs and, instead, focus on their capabilities, their dreams and their aspirations. It is a change that leads us to listen to their voices, to know their stories and to value their contributions to society. Accompanying them in all their struggles and achievements becomes a celebration of human dignity and resilience.
