The Minister agreed on this at an extraordinary Wednesday meeting of the Central Management Team of the Smart Quarantine in connection with the numbers from the last days. A record 1,164 new cases of the disease were added to the Czech Republic on Tuesday. In previous days, the numbers ranged from about 500 to about 700 newly diagnosed cases.

Due to the deteriorating epidemiological situation, I convened an extraordinary meeting of the Central Management Team this morning @ChytraKarantena. We agreed with the experts that from tomorrow we will introduce the obligation to wear a veil in the interior of buildings throughout the Czech Republic. Details will be released during the day.

Details on the general tightening of anti-epidemiological measures will be published by the ministry during the day. The government switched to the Smart Quarantine system and created a so-called covid traffic light, which grades the spread of the disease in the Czech regions and accordingly estimates what measures would be put in place in the event of a worsening situation so that nationwide measures do not have to return.
–
Nevertheless, the Minister has previously admitted that if there is a massive spread of the virus in society, certain general measures could be returned.
–
Nationwide, until now, it has been necessary, on the basis of an order from the Ministry of Health, to have the mouth and nose covered in public transport, in offices and in social and medical facilities.
–
The strictest measures so far have been in Prague, which so far, as the only “district”, glows orange at the traffic lights. This marks the third most serious stage of the four and the beginning of community transmission.
–
In addition to the above-mentioned republican measures, Praguers must wear veils in railway station halls, at Václav Havel Airport and, from Wednesday, also in shops and shopping centers.
–
Prague hygienists have also limited the night opening hours of restaurants and bars, which must be closed from midnight to six in the morning.
