From the Ester Krumbachová exhibition, you will take away experiences, perhaps even a cat

Krumbachová (1923–1996), who as an artist participated in the films Diamonds of the Night, Daisies, Valerie and Week of Wonders and The Ear, was a great cat lover. That is why the curators of the exhibition, Kateřina Svatoňová and Edith Jeřábková, have come up with an unusual thing where cats will roam directly in the exhibition space.

“They will not be here as exhibits, but so that visitors can take them home if they decide to take them. Krumbachová was also a great promoter of the shelter, with Marta Kubišová she participated in the show Want Me, She Rescued Cats from the Street. So we followed up and there will be cats from the shelter waiting for new owners, “described Jeřábková.

The Brno exhibition stands on the estate of Krumbachová, which was discovered only a few years ago. “Her archive covers a lot of topics that are still relevant today, such as relations between men and women, friendship, recycling and much more. She lived in a non-stereotypical and messy way, “said Svatoňová with a smile.

Photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková reminded that Krumbachová functioned as a lighthouse and inspiration for her surroundings.

People can also watch excerpts from films in which Krumbach participated. Her only original film The Murder of Ing. Devil and the documentary The Search for Esther by Věra Chytilová. The exhibition will be in the House of Arts until March next year.
