From the end of the world to the limits of space-time

Rouynorandienne Manon Charlebois will launch a third album by September

Rouynorandienne Manon Charlebois will soon launch a third album.

Entitled “Space-Time” the album was born from a collaboration between the Rouynorandienne and renowned artists such as guitarists Steve Hinson (Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood) and Mike Baker (David Alan Coe, Moe Bandy). In addition to co-directing, François Poulin (Willie Lamothe and Guylaine Tanguay) provided sound recording and mixing.

Despite the restrictive health measures due to Covid-19, Manon Charlebois and his team were not discouraged by physical distancing. The singer’s voice was recorded in Rouyn-Noranda, while the recording of the instruments was done in Nashville, Tennessee.

A first extract, “My tent-trailer” has been available since May 3 on various digital platforms, in addition to playing on the radio. The album should be launched by September.

The appeal of the country

Manon Charlebois, now on her third album, made her debut in bars in Timmins, where country music was ubiquitous. Although she was not particularly fond of this musical genre, she decided to learn Shania Twain songs in order to prove herself on stage. Thanks to the music of the famous country singer, the Rouynorandienne developed a love for this musical genre which, according to her, has the power to directly touch people.

20 year career

In 1998, Manon Charlebois was noticed during the Ontario-Pop competition, where she won three prizes: best songwriter, best performance on stage as well as the prize for the song awarded by the Socan. Subsequently, she participated in the Festival international de Granby. In 2001, she released her very first album, entitled “Au bout du monde”. Two songs are found in the Top 10 of Stingray, formerly Galaxie.

In 2008, in collaboration with François Dubé (Céline Dion, Renée Claude, Alys Robi), the singer-songwriter launched her second album, entitled “Pink Language”. She also writes songs for Raphaël Roberge (MixMania 4) as well as Dominique Laura Guénette.

During her musical career, Manon Charlebois has performed on stage in Quebec, Ontario and France.
