A man (23) at the regional court in St. Pölten expressed his gratitude after the verdict was pronounced with the sign of the cross. Because the judge acquitted him of the charge of dangerous threats to the detriment of a prison guard in the Wilhelmshöhe prison branch in Tullnerbach.
The man told a prison guard after an altercation with another prisoner in March that he was “going to smash his (the prisoner’s) skull in”. Previously, the two were separated to de-escalate the situation. The prisoner, against whom the threat is said to have been directed, did not notice anything about it, he said in court.
The officer eventually informed his superior about the incident. He then stated in court that the prisoner had said this out of emotion and that he did not have the impression that the threat was directed at him, which resulted in the acquittal.
