From the cinema to affordable living space

Friedberg(pm). The local elections in March 2021 are just around the corner – an occasion for a group of young people to collect topics that they consider to be important. In a first action, the group recently asked 16 to 25-year-olds via Instagram to make suggestions for improving and developing Friedberg. “What has to change in Friedberg and why? What has to go and what has to come from?” were the questions. There were also a number of requests within 24 hours.

Joh, club, train station
and graffiti

The focus was on the quick implementation of the planned cinema, ending the vacancy in the former Joh department store, shops and cafés geared towards young people, as well as places to sit and retreat to meet and relax. Multiple responses were also found for the demands for parties or a club similar to the Central and a clean and handicapped accessible train station with toilet facilities. In addition, there were requests for a “Hall of Fame” with walls for graffiti design, more opportunities for activity, more support for Junity, better lighting on the Seewiese, the expansion of support for the needy and for affordable living space.

The organizers printed the results of the survey on index cards and chose a place with the Christmas tree in front of the town hall to convey the wishes of the public. In order to promote a discussion between politics and youth, further actions of the group “1st choice – municipal” should follow in the new year.

If you are interested in participating or if you have further suggestions, the organizers can be reached via Instagram at @ 1wahlkommunal.
