Three third division matchdays have already been completed, but Dynamo Dresden is strengthening its offensive once again: Jonas Sterner (22) comes on loan from Bundesliga newcomer Holstein Kiel for one season.
New in Dresden: Jonas Sterner. SG Dynamo Dresden
Jonas Sterner is moving two leagues lower to take a step forward. The attacking midfielder is joining Dynamo Dresden on loan for a season.
Carsten Wehlmann, KSV’s sports director, sees this as a sensible step: “It is important for Jonas to get enough playing time. In Dresden he can get this at a high level and gain match practice in order to develop further. Dresden is getting a well-trained, flexible and highly motivated player. That is why we are convinced that this loan is a good solution for all three parties.”
Thomas Brendel also seems convinced of this. “We have recently repeatedly emphasized that we want to broaden our offensive position. With Jonas, we have now gained a young and talented player who already has a wealth of experience as a player from higher leagues,” explains the SGD’s sports director: “With his athleticism and technique, he brings very good fundamentals to further stimulate competition both on the wing and in our eight positions.”
38 professional games for Holstein
Born in Husum, he has been playing for Holstein Kiel since the U15s and was used 16 times in the 2nd Bundesliga (eleven substitutions, two goals) and twice in the DFB Cup (two assists) last season. In total, Sterner has played 38 competitive games for the professionals and 42 games for the KSV U23s.
He is a master of offensive pressing and also has a good sense of depth.
Thomas Stamm about his new signing
“With his versatility in the offensive, Jonas can become an important building block for our game,” SGD head coach Thomas Stamm is convinced: “He has mastered the behavior in offensive pressing and also has a good sense of depth. We are happy that we can work together with him on our goals.”
After two wins from three games, Dynamo is currently joint fourth in the 3rd league. The next home game against newly promoted Stuttgart II is on Saturday (2 p.m., LIVE! on kicker).
