From August 25 /Sunday/ to August 29 /Thursday/ this year, the 71st International Cycling Tour of Bulgaria will take place. In order to increase traffic safety, drivers need to drive carefully, observe traffic signals and the established temporary organization. During the competition, traffic will be gradually restricted in sections of the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Sofia – Sliven – Burgas, II-35 Troyan – Karnare, on the third-class road network in the direction Troyan – Debnevo – Gradnitsa, on road II-44 Sevlievo – Gabrovo , through the “Shipka” pass on road I-5 Gabrovo – Kazanlak, on road III-488 Sliven – Gradec, on road II-48 Gradec – Mokren, on road I-7 “Petolachka” – Mokren, on road II-99 Primorsko – Burgas and along the third-class road network of the Burgas region in the direction Gorno Ezerovo – Bratovo – Vratitsa – Karanovo – Aytos.
The temporary organization of traffic in the sections through which the cyclists will pass will be introduced immediately before the race. The column will be led by two pilot cars. In the sections restricted to traffic, access will be provided, if necessary, for vehicles with a special mode of movement such as ambulances, fire engines, etc.
To plan the journeys of drivers, we provide the route of the cycling tour, which passes through sections of the national road network.
On the 25th of August is the first stage of the race, which passes along the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Sofia – Pirdop – Karnare and on road II-35 Karnare – Troyan. It starts at 1 p.m. in Sofia and ends in Troyan.
On the 26th of August is the second stage of the race, which passes along road III-357 Oreshak – Gumoshtnik, road III-3505 Gumoshtnik – Debnevo, road III-404 Debnevo – Gradnitsa – Sennik, road II-44 Sevlievo – Gabrovo, III-5004 along the bypass of Gabrovo and through the Shipka pass on the I-5 Gabrovo – Kazanlak road. The starting time is 2:30 p.m. in Troyan, and the final is in Kazanlak.
On the 27th of August the third stage of the race goes along the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Kazanlak – Sliven – Aytos – Burgas. It starts at 12:55 in Kazanlak and ends in Burgas.
On the 28th of August is the fourth stage of the race, which passes along road II-99 Primorsko – Burgas, road I-9 “Kraimorie” quarter – “Pobeda” quarter in Burgas, along the third-class road network through Gorno Ezerovo – Bratovo – Ravnets – Troyanovo – Vratitsa – Karanovo – Aytos, on road I-6 Aytos – p.v. “Petolatchka”, road I-7 “Petolatchka” – Mokren, road II-48 Mokren – Gradets, road III-488 Gradets – Ichera – Sliven. The starting time is 1 pm in Primorsko, the final is in Sliven.
On the 29th of August is the fifth stage of the race, which passes along the Sub-Balkan road I-6 Sliven – Kazanlak and along the road I-5 Kazanlak – Gabrovo. The start is at 1:30 p.m. in Sliven, and the final of the competition is in Gabrovo.
The Road Infrastructure Agency appeals to drivers to drive carefully, at an appropriate speed and with the necessary distance, not to undertake risky overtaking that endangers the safety of all other travelers.
All citizens and transport companies can receive information about the current road situation from the website of the API – www.api.bg, as well as at any time of the day by calling 0700 130 20 at the API. In the agency, a Situation Center operates year-round, 24 hours a day, which collects and summarizes data on the state of the republic’s roads.
