Changing haircut and color before an important red carpet is now a cliché for stars, but one that continues to have its effects: as we expected, even the red carpet of Met Gala 2024, which took place on the evening of Monday 6 May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, offered new beauty looks to admire, especially in terms of hair. With external cuts and bold colorsthere are several stars who have focused their entire look on a new, surprising hairstyle that revolutionized their appearance (maybe just for one night).
Also interpreting the theme of the Met’s annual exhibition in beauty – Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, literally “sleeping beauties, the awakening of fashion” – with particular reference to the “Garden of Time” described by JG Ballard in his 1962 story of the same name, many outfits brought true couture masterpieces decorated with botanical elements and emphasized to the red carpet right from the hairstyles. From Sydney Sweeney’s new black bob, which gave her floral dress an esoteric allure, to Amanda Seyfried’s silver crop with floral crown, perfectly paired with her chrome dress covered in pink flowers, here the headshots of the most beautiful stars of this Met Gala.

Sydney Sweeney
The actress of Euphoria Sydney Sweeney was almost unrecognizable on the Met Gala red carpet: her iconic blonde, in fact, was replaced by a jet black bob above her shoulders with long, thick bangs that touched her eyelashes, with voluminous and slightly (fake) styling disheveled. The creator of her look is her hairstylist Glen Oropeza, who revealed on social media that her new look is the result of a wig (now increasingly used on red carpets). The new hairstyle gave a darker and more esoteric allure to Sweeney’s outfit: a light blue tulle dress by Miu Miu embellished with flowers worn with long black latex gloves and a sparkling diamond necklace.
The make-up, created by Melissa Hernandez with Armani Beauty products, followed the mood of the look: “The contrast between the black gloves and the delicate light blue tulle of Sydney’s dress inspired me to create a look that was bold but at the same time ethereal and feminine”, said the make-up artist. “I outlined my eyes with a jet black eyeliner and added multiple layers of mascara for a tenacious and bold effect. To give balance to the look, I dabbed a pink ‘bubble gum’ blush on my cheeks and blended it towards the eye contour This romantic pop of color contrasted beautifully with the black details of the look.” The look is completed by a dewy complexion with well-sculpted cheekbones and natural lips covered in gloss for a super shiny finish.
Amanda Seyfried
Also the actress launched by Mean Girls Amanda Seyfried she ditched her iconic long, blonde hair for a new color: silver. But not only that: her trusted hairstylist Renato Campora created a sophisticated chignon with front locks curled in Old Hollywood style to frame her face, decorated with a crown of precious stones that resembled the leaves of a vine. The hairstyle matched perfectly with the silver Prada dress embellished with pink floral decorations and the make-up, by Lancôme, was also in the palette: fresh complexion, pink shimmer eyeshadow, fluttering eyelashes and a bright purple lipstick combined with the flowers of her dress (in particular, it is the L’Absolu Rouge Intimatte lipstick in shade 509 Still dreaming).
Michelle Williams
Another blonde actress, another hairstyle transformation: even Michelle Williams, in fact, on the occasion of the Met Gala dyed her hair platinum blonde, debuting a new pastel pink pixie cut that paired with her short Chanel dress with a long train made of layers of tulle . Her pink hair is layered, the most striking accessory of her ethereal look, worn with a short cut with a side parting and embellished with a silver band secured with a white ribbon at the nape of the neck. To complete the beauty look, Williams chose makeup quite simple and classic, perfect for giving pink hair all the attention: rosy cheeks, lips enhanced by a natural and brilliant pink and eyes rimmed with black, on the eyelid (also covered with a delicate lilac eye shadow) but also in the lower rim of the ‘eye. With this “fairy” look the actress made her return to the Met Gala after six years of absence.
Cardi B
Accustomed to surprising, Cardi B did not disappoint expectations at the Met Gala with a hyperbolic look that immediately made her become a meme. Aside from the sumptuousness of her dress, with a quantity of tulle and black ruffles that took up meters and meters around her, what also amazed was the very high turban hairstyle also made of black tulle, which covered all her hair her. The emerald green make-up (including contact lenses) was also beautiful, as was the nail art in the same color, which reflected her jewels.
