From Segovia to New York: IE continues to grow

IE University has just announced the launch of IE New York College. La institution has become a ‘sole member’ of a US College in SoHoin New York. This US College will change its name to IE New York College (IENYC) will offer Masters focused on Business and SustainabilityThe first Master will be the Master in Business for Social Impact and Sustainability, which will begin in January 2025.

Although IE University and IENYC are independent institutions. They will promote joint projects, including: exchange agreements that will allow their students to live and study in New York.

IE University has replaced Glasgow Caledonian University as the sole member of Glasgow Caledonian New York College (GCNYC). The SoHo-based college will be renamed IE New York College (IENYC) following approval by the US authorities. With this replacement, IE University becomes the custodian of an innovative college in New York with programs focused on Business and Sustainability. The college has been approved by the New York State Board of Regents as a not-for-profit institution since 2017, is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) and is authorized to admit international students.

IENYC will offer Master’s programs, including the MS in Business for Social Impact and Sustainability, which will begin in January 2025, and will soon announce the institution’s new programs for the 2025-2026 academic year.

IE University and the future IENYC are independent institutions “with a complementary academic purpose focused on driving positive change through education, research and innovation. Both have a focus on business and advancing the sustainability agenda,” says Diego del Alcázar, on behalf of IE University. “This is a unique opportunity, an injection of energy and an enormous responsibility. IENYC will work to generate positive impact not only in Higher Education worldwide but directly in the city of New York,” adds Del Alcázar.

“At IENYC we will have access to IE University’s extensive global network, its collaboration with institutions such as the United Nations, and we will promote research to have an impact on people. We are looking forward to beginning this new stage,” says Jacqueline LeBlanc, Vice President and Provost of GCNYC.

As a sole member, IE University will reinforce the purpose of the American College. IE University and IENYC will promote different initiatives such as exchange agreements that will allow IE University students to live and study in New York, one of the most vibrant capitals in the world. With more than 23 million inhabitants and a GDP of more than 1.4 trillion dollars, the New York metropolitan area is a global economic powerhouse.
