The story of Rocío Carrasco could not be understood without knowing whose daughter she is. A poisoned inheritance, childhood marked by the absence of her mother and a series of enemies who have persecuted her for decades and with whom she would never have crossed had she not been the daughter of Rocío Jurado.
Rocio Carrasco he adored his mother. She spent her childhood crying because she missed her and the singer’s continuous tours prevented her from spending more time with her daughter. Thus, as he grew up, he gave way to a rebellious side that the Jury tried to pacify (and that ended up running amok with the separation of his parents).

From internees to study endless talks and even some request (jincá on her knees, as Chipiona’s would explain on some occasion) asking her not to leave the family home at the age of 18 to go with Antonio David and, shortly after, marry. Account Rocio Carrasco that her mother knew that she would end up regretting making that decision and that she would come back “with a belly.” And to this day, the image of his mother, kneeling and crying, asking him not to leave, is still stuck in his gut.
–
The day that Rocío Jurado announced to the media that she had pancreatic cancer – the same disease that had taken her mother – she said that she was “going to continue fighting to continue here, for mine, that they really need me”.
–
And those words, almost prophetic, took on a new meaning when, shortly after his death (June 1, 2006), the strength of the clan began to crumble. Ortega Cano began to drink to try to forget and, years later, he ended up having a traffic accident that ended the life of a person. While awaiting trial, his girlfriend – Ana María Aldón – became pregnant.
–
Gloria Camila tried without much success to maintain her form and hope and her brother José Fernando alternated troubles with justice with a detoxification clinic to overcome addictions.
All of them ended up breaking the relationship with Rocío Carrasco (or Rocío Carrasco with them, depending on who tells it) and the Mohedano, Rocío Jurado’s brothers, also joined the brawls for a division of the farms. Meanwhile, “the girl” of the oldest was fighting – and is fighting – an exhausting legal battle with the father of her children that culminated in complaints of mistreatment and a total break with Antonio David and also with the children Rocío and David Carrasco. Whether or not there will be rapprochement, only time will tell. At the moment her daughter, Rocío Flores, has already let it fall that she is holding out her hand.
The blackest fifteen days of the Flores clan
She was different, fierce and free, full of art. He managed to get flamenco out of the tablaos and bring it closer to the squares. And her occurrences ended up winning the hearts of a society that enjoyed watching her from the small screen, once she conquered television. They say that the relationship he had with his children was very close, especially with Antonio.
–
Together they went to party (it was usual for her to call him and his friends and come alone and well groomed to where they were to share a drink), together they spent the nights and talked about life, love, art and death. They say that if you saw them look at each other, you could almost see the fire between them.
–
The day she died of breast cancer (May 16, 1995) everyone present at the Lerele – La Faraona’s house – saw how Antonio broke his left arm when he punched a door after receiving the news. The same arm that appears bandaged in that already mythical concert in Pamplona, the last he would give, which he dedicated to Lola Flores looking at the sky.
–
Antonio was fierce, like his mother. Rebel, nonconformist, loaded with talent. He had a daughter (Alba Flores) for whom he wanted to continue living and eager to work. But he lacked “his light”, his mother, and life became very difficult for him. They found him dead in the cabin that Lola had built for him on the Lerele; barbiturate and alcohol overdose.
The same entourage that barely 15 days before had dismissed Flores came back to say goodbye to their son on May 30. This time there were no statements, just a thick silence surrounding him. Years later, Lolita would say that when the toilets arrived, he asked them to leave him, who no longer had a remedy, and save Rosario “who gave one-meter boats.”
From then on they lived one of their bitterest moments: a year and a half in which they were “unhinged”. While Lolita experienced an internal explosion that led her to drink and hit the doors with her fists (a situation that she managed to redirect thanks to her children), Rosario has come to say that “she wanted to kill me without my brother. But at 8 months I got pregnant with Lola and he ended up destroying me and mistreating me ”.
How Rocío Dúrcal’s inheritance ended the family
In the last goodbye to Rocío Dúrcal in Mexico (a country in which part of the artist’s ashes were scattered), a family was seen devastated by the pain of loss, but also very united. Among mariachis, music journalists and staunch fans, a warm ovation and part of the lyrics of Eternal Love could be heard. At the time, nothing suggested that Rocío Dúrcal’s departure, who left everything tied up before leaving, would take the family away.
–
The idea was that there was no cause for any kind of family conflict. Rocío Dúrcal distributed the inheritance while she was alive and ordered how the rest of the goods and belongings should be arranged (jewelry and dresses included). Everything was, in theory, resolved. However, his children Antonio and Carmen discovered, while ordering papers, a series of properties that were abroad and that had not been reflected. By sharing the event with the family, his father Junior refused to include it in the will and what should have been a simple inheritance in terms of distribution became a family bomb.
–
The children’s estrangement from the father was followed by problems with drinking, depression and the shadow of a duel that became perennial. While Carmen and Antonio showed a more belligerent posture, Shaila -the smallest of the clan- seemed to try to bring positions closer without succeeding. There were lawyers, crosses of accusations, loneliness and many tears. They say Junior was never the same again and was often heard complaining about not being able to see his grandchildren despite living only a few feet away. However, almost overnight, Carmen Morales put an end to the problem.
Faced with an imminent wedding and a father who could no longer bear the situation, the family decided to bury the hatchet. They resolved their differences in privacy, without lawyers or trials, and ended the saddest years of a family that never, until that inheritance, had starred in a scandal.
