Author of a good season with Fos, Allan Dokossi (23 years old) has relaunched his career after being released by Le Mans in 2018. Dijon since the start of the season, he discovers the European Cup and takes a lucid look on his journey.
After five seasons at Fos-sur-Mer, you signed with Dijon. What guided your choice?
The project was interesting, I considered this signing as the next step in my progression. I arrived a little early to acclimatize. I knew the guys, so I adapted quickly. I am not a finished player and I think that with coach Nenad Markovic I can continue to progress. My discussion with him was important. The prospect of playing Europe was important too of course.

With the European Cup, you will have a season with more matches. Have you done more personal physical preparation?
Like every summer, I prepared with a physical trainer, I also had to treat a hip problem then I continued with Dijon when training resumed.
“I take criticism in a positive way, telling myself that I have some responsibility”
You say you are not a finished player. What are your areas of progress?
I have to work on my outside shot, defensively too. I have to be involved throughout the field, but without spreading myself too thin and wasting my strength unnecessarily.
Before signing for Fos, you spent a season at Le Mans, in Espoirs, but the club did not keep you. Vincent Loriot, the sporting director of Le Mans, said that you were immature at the time. Was this the case?
Possible. I take criticism in a positive way, telling myself that I have some responsibility. I became aware of the progress I had to make and the extent of the professional world while maintaining my enthusiasm. I had a good questioning.
Do you have a career plan?
Like any player, we want to go as high as possible. I would like to one day be able to taste the Euroleague but, in the medium term, we need to improve with Dijon after an unsatisfactory start to the season.
What do you think is the reason for this hesitant start to the season (2 wins for 5 losses)?
Dijon is coming off a good season (4th, quarter-finalist, Editor’s note), it’s been average since the start of the season because the players have to know each other well. We discover each other, there is a lack of alchemy, we have to create cohesion.
