We all start somewhere, and for many A-list celebrities, they had humble beginnings. While some stars are born into fame and others are in just the right place at the right time, it doesn’t always turn out that way for everyone. In fact, many of our favorite celebrities got their start on everyone’s favorite reality show, reality TV. Let’s take a look at some famous icons who got their start in the unscripted genre.

Emma Pierre
Before she makes us laugh Super mal and made us cry TheThe Earth, Emma Pierre did a stint on reality TV. In 2004, VH1 spear Finding the New Partridge Familylooking for people to star in the series The New Partridge Family. Stone was able to take the stage and show off her singing skills, earning her the win and a spot on the show. Unfortunately, the show was never picked up, so no one got to see Stone play Laurie Partridge.
Laverne Cox
Laverne CoxLGBTQ+ activist and star of Orange is the new black was once in the running for Diddy’s approval on I want to work for Diddy in 2008. The show featured people from all management levels who competed through weekly assignments to become Diddy’s personal assistant. Cox was the first African-American transgender contestant to appear on a popular reality show. She was eliminated after episode two.

Kristen Wiig
SNL et Bridesmaids star, Kristen Wiig, was once in a prank reality show. Wiig played on The Joe Schmo Show as a goofy marriage counselor in 2003. The premise of the show was basically to trick people into thinking they were on a real reality show. She only starred in Season 1 and actually injured her head in an on-screen sumo contest.
Cardi B
Billboard Woman of the Year in 2020, Cardi B, has already starred in two reality shows before becoming famous. She starred in Season 6 of Love and hip-hop: New York in 2015 and before that she was on VH1It is Black Ink Crew: New York. Black Ink Crew was only a brief on-screen appearance while working as an exotic dancer. She gained instant popularity thanks to love and hip hop and was everyone’s favorite. Unlike many longtime franchise members, she quit after a few seasons once her rap career started to take off.
Meghan Markle
Before becoming the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle was a star on shows like Combinations, Married with childrenet Expert : Miami. But even before all of that, Markle had her moments of glory thanks to a reality TV lens. Markle was a briefcase girl on the UNITED STATES to show, Agree or not agree in 2006. Maybe she wasn’t the star, but it helped her make ends meet until she could find other gigs.
Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is an icon. She sings, she is an activist, she is an entrepreneur and she is an actress. Before the pop star burst onto the scene with ‘Just Dance,’ she was an unsuspecting guest at a MTV reality show called Boiling points in 2005. The name says it all as the reality show puts unsuspecting people in increasingly irritating situations to see how long it will take them to explode. Gaga could have been awarded $100 if she survived the situation for 14 minutes without exploding, but she didn’t. Therefore, no cash prize was won.
Chris Hemsworth
The Thor star, Chris Hemsworth, was not always the celebrity we know today. Before raking in box office success, Hemsworth starred in At home and awayan Australian soap opera, and was on the Australian version of Dancing with the stars in 2006. He lasted seven weeks on the show before being eliminated.
Jon Hamm
The Mad Men star, Jon Hamm, has previously appeared on a dating show. In 1996, Hamm starred in an episode of the series The big meeting. He tried to win a date with Mary, but even though he promised her a fabulous evening ending with a foot massage, Mary didn’t choose Jon to be her big date.
Beyoncé
Beyoncé has proven time and time again that she rules the world, but before the world was hers, she starred on a reality TV show. In 1993 she starred in star search at 12 with his group girl’s type. The girl group ended up coming in at number two on the biggest talent show on TV at the time.
I’m not
She didn’t always wake up in the morning feeling like Diddy, but she did wake up one day in 2005 on a reality show. I’m not played on the Paris-Hilton et Nicole Richie to show, simple life. She appeared in a Season 3 episode where Paris and Nicole interviewed men to date with Ke$ha’s mother, Pebe Sebert.
