However, this isn’t the first time Erik has been on “his” show. In the first Flemish edition of ‘Slimste mens’ in 2003 – at the time still hosted by Bruno Wyndaele – Van Looy also took part in the programme. He was allowed to play five times, but then he had to leave the quiz. In 2004 he took over the presentation torch from Wyndaele.

It is the second time in the history of the Dutch TV quiz show that a Belgian takes part. Last season, Philippe Geubels made his debut as the first ever Belgian candidate. However, Geubels did not last long. The comedian had already been catapulted home in the final lap of his first episode by Dutchman Teun van den Elzen.
