From powder pink to Servettian garnet, the outfits of Swiss athletes in Tokyo

Red and white, but not in the traditional way: this is the design bet made to dress Swiss athletes at the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games, which will take place from 23 July to 8 August and from 24 August to 5 September 2021, respectively. The delegation will be draped in a wide palette of reds, ranging from powdery pink to an almost Servettian garnet, with a collection revealed this Wednesday by Swiss Olympic.

This is the first ever produced in collaboration with the Ochsner Sport chain of stores and the equipment manufacturer On. The partnership with the two Swiss companies, concluded in 2020, should last until the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

“At On, we are incredibly proud to be able to support the success of the Swiss delegations in Tokyo,” said Thilo Alex Brunner, Head of Design at On, in a press release. The colors red and white play an important role in the design of the collection, but not in a traditional way: by using a whole palette of red tones, we are referring to a diverse and inclusive Switzerland and to the Olympic idea that connects all the sportsmen and women. “

For the Zurich label, founded in 2010, profitable since 2014, boosted by the involvement of Roger Federer in 2019, and now rumored to be close to an IPO, this Olympic collection is above all welcome new publicity. Originally focused on the creation of shoes, it continues its diversification approach here with around fifteen articles of all types created in addition to four pairs of special sneakers.

The Olympic athletes will receive their clothes at the end of June-beginning of July as part of the presentation of the official Swiss Olympic uniforms. Fans can get them now from the leading Swiss sports retailer.
