Lean offer for poor students
Students travel by taxi from Plovdiv to Sofia for BGN 20, with an average price of BGN 15 for bus transport. Drivers of yellow cars under the hills have sounded the alarm about this and insist on revoking the taxi service. They want the price for a distance of 1km outside a built-up area to be 50% higher and to introduce a call rate of 88 cents during the day and 99 at night.
“There are colleagues who drive four and even five people for BGN 80-100 in Sofia! The people of Plovdiv are being teased all over Bulgaria for this”, the taxi drivers are angry. Some of them are firmly convinced that the current rates are on the verge of absurdity and propose to increase them by 30-40 cents. “Those who use a taxi, even at BGN 2 per kilometer, do not give up! When the cheese becomes BGN 15, we buy it again. It is the same in our work: whoever rides, will ride. We are the only ones who lose cheap” , they launch themselves against their colleagues by undercutting prices.
Just two days ago, tariffs in Sofia increased by 15% by a decision of the Sofia City Council. Therefore, the minimum daily rate becomes 1.21 BGN, and the night rate – 1.39 BGN. The maximum rates are respectively: daily 2.05 leva and night 2.51 leva. For comparison, the yellow cars under the hills charge BGN 0.99 during the day and BGN 1.09 at night.
