Not so long ago, a relative of the Yudashkins, opera singer Maria Maksakova, could not resist taunting the couple and Marina in particular. “She is generally an ordinary hairdresser who is incredibly lucky in life,” the artist said in one of the TV shows. What prompted the singer to make such remarks is not known. Perhaps the fact that at 64 Yudashkina looks amazing. And in life it took place, as they say, on all fronts. And Valentin now claims: “If it weren’t for Marina, I don’t know what would have happened to me.”
“We met for three days, and Valya proposed to me”
Marina is a Muscovite, her maiden name was Patalova. I was born in a very ordinary family, my mother worked as a hairdresser. Like many girls, the future wife of the couturier did hairstyles for dolls, sewed outfits for them.
A childhood hobby has grown into a profession. Moreover, there was someone to explain the basics of hairdressing to the girl. Marina started practicing at 15, and at 17 she already took part in competitions.
The future spouses met when both worked at the Central Design Bureau for Makeup and Hairdressing. At first, they just said hello, chatted about this and that. The institution was just busy preparing for the competition in Czechoslovakia. Employees used to return home at ten in the evening.
When it came to courtship, things moved very quickly. “We met for three days, and Valya proposed to me. I immediately agreed. My mother had already died by that time, there were no relatives either, ”says Marina.
This seemingly hasty marriage has been going on for more than 30 years. The Yudashkins raised their daughter Galina. She is now in her 30s. The fashion designer’s heiress has become a professional photographer. She married Pyotr Maksakova, the grandson of the famous actress Lyudmila Maksakova. She gave her parents a grandson and two granddaughters.
“Do not tell your husband about his selfishness or laziness”
“It was not easy to break through, but she was always there,” says Valentin about Marina. When he decided to go on an independent “swimming”, his wife did not say a word across.
“The first Valina collection was presented in Paris in January 1991, and a month before, in December, our daughter was born, and this did not bother us,” she assures.
No matter how difficult it was, Yudashkina was ready for anything for the sake of her family and never complained. “If it weren’t for Marina, I don’t know what would have happened to me. After all, there were such terrible moments in my life when, due to lack of livelihood, I sold furniture from home, a car. And all this belonged to Marina, but she went for it for me.
As a result, Yudashkina gave up on her career as a hairdresser-stylist. Today she is a faithful assistant to her husband and at work – she is a top manager at the Valentin Yudashkin Fashion House. The recipe for a lasting marriage from Marina looks like this:
“A woman should help build a career for the other half. Support your spouse. If you don’t do it, then someone else will. And never tell your husband about his selfishness or laziness. Do not try to change it, argue on creative or professional topics.
“What do I need a lover for?”
Marina claims that she is still confident in herself and in her husband: “Why do I need a lover? If you want a lover, get divorced and have one. Why then live, suffer? They make a lover when it’s bad at home.
He became a reliable support for her husband even when in 2016 he was diagnosed with an oncological disease. Yudashkin continues to create, despite severe treatment.
“Suddenly my head began to hurt, which I never had before. I already had metastases in my head,” recalls Valentin Abramovich. The focus itself was found in the kidney.
Couturier underwent several abdominal operations and courses of chemotherapy. He claims: “The most important thing here is the family, which pretended that nothing was happening. Maybe there were snot, tears, but I didn’t see it at all.”
Marina Yudashkina does not even want to hear about protecting Valentine from all affairs and worries. She is solely for the fact that her husband continues to lead a bright and fulfilling life. Everything he loves:
“He will walk as he walked – everywhere, live as he lived, work, prepare shows. This is his life. I won’t let him stay at home.”
