She noted that in October last year, the Fireplace Hall on the first floor of the Latvian House of the Society was opened as a temporary playground for the Latvian Puppet Theater.
Petrauskas said that a solution has now been found to adapt the Great Hall of the Riga Latvian Society House to the needs of performances, which has received additional funding from the Ministry of Culture (KM) in the amount of 18,000 euros for the development of a mobile electric cable, installation and communication system. Thanks to this opportunity, from October 1, the repertoire of the Latvian Puppet Theater will again have the opportunity to include productions of the Great Hall, which have not been possible to show for almost a year due to the pandemic and lack of premises.
The Great Hall of the Latvian Puppet Theater in the Riga Latvian Society House will be opened by the premiere of the new pandemic-era production “Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table” on October 1 and October 2. The performance was created by the new director of the theater Edgars Niklasons in collaboration with playwright Sandijs Santas, set designer and puppet artist Evita Bēta, music authors Mārtiņš Milevskis and Kaspars Bārbals, lighting artist Uldis Andersons, as well as the team of actors Elīna Bojarkins, Anrijs Sirmo, Matīss Millers and Rihards Zelezņevs.
A representative of the theater pointed out that “Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table” tell about four 6th grade students who, on an excursion to the museum of a medieval stone castle, get into adventures after too much boredom, which forever changes their lives and starts a dizzying fight for getting out of the museum and its own walls of fear.
In October, the Latvian Puppet Theater will also offer other performances of the Great Hall – “Foot Engine Caps”, “Brother and Carlson living on the roof”, “Naksitrallīši”, “And again Pifs”, “Emīls and the Berlin Boys”.
The Latvian Puppet Theater works in a yellow or semi-safe mode, which allows both vaccinated and sick and tested people to attend the performances. The test should take into account that for both adults and children from the age of 12, only the fee test from which the interoperable certificate is generated will be valid.
It is not possible to obtain a certificate through school screening tests or a doctor’s referral test. The distance between the seats is observed at the venue and all spectators from the age of seven must wear face masks. Tickets for the Great Hall performances can be purchased at all “Biļešu paradīze” sales points.
