From October, Saxony will allow people from the Czech Republic to enter without the need for quarantine, provided they do not stay longer than 24 hours Home

Berlin From October, the neighboring German state of Saxony will allow people from the Czech Republic to enter without the need for quarantine, as long as their stay does not exceed 24 hours. The Germans will then be able to stay in the Czech Republic for up to 48 hours without having to go into isolation. According to the MDR station, Saxon Minister of Health Petra Köppingová announced this on Tuesday. Since last week, Germany has considered the Czech Republic a risky area, so it is necessary to comply with quarantine measures when traveling from the Czech Republic to Germany.

A negative coronavirus test or mandatory quarantine with a subsequent test in Germany is now required to enter Germany from the risk area. From October 1, a quarantine will be required on a general basis, it will be possible to end it after five days with a negative analysis. For the time being, truck drivers or commuters have exceptions if they do not have symptoms of covid-19. Berlin wants to keep these exceptions.

It is not yet entirely clear what exactly the exceptions will look like after October 1, for example, testing of commuters is at stake. The Federal Ministry of Health states that quarantine measures for cross-border traffic are the responsibility of the individual German Länder. Bavaria, as well as Saxony, which borders the Czech Republic, want to keep the exceptions. Köpping has now said that Saxony will adjust its conditions from October to facilitate short-term border crossings.
