As the tvn24bis.pl website reminds, On October 9, 2015, the Minister of Economy issued a regulation in which he not only introduced an obligation to sell winter diesel oil, but also indicated specific parameters. The regulation distinguishes three minimum cold fuel filter plugging temperatures (CFPP) at which fuel flows smoothly in fuel systems:
- 0 degrees C for the summer period from April 16 to September 30,
- -10 degrees C for the transition period from March 1 to April 15 and from October 1 to November 15,
- -20 degrees C for the winter period lasting from November 16 to the end of February.
From now on, drivers have a completely new fuel to choose from. The obligation to sell it was introduced by the minister
The change is due to the fact that diesel fuel is particularly susceptible to low temperatures. As explained by a representative of the Płock concern quoted by tvn24bis.pl, when the temperature drops to negative values, “paraffin crystals may be released, which stick to the fuel filter and cut off its flow to the engine, which causes the car to immediately immobilize.”
Yet Sales changes included 95 and 98 unleaded petrol, however, different deadlines apply to them than in the case of diesel oil (such gasoline must be sold from November 1 to the end of February). The tvn24bis.pl website contacted several fuel distributors to obtain information whether winter diesel oil will be offered.
The Orlen press office informed that “in accordance with the regulation, from November 16 to the end of February 2024, winter diesel oil will be available at all Orlen stations,” representatives of the Płock company explained in a statement obtained by tvn24bis.pl. Circle K representatives also assured that a new type of fuel will appear in the offer, and its parameters are consistent with the regulations specified in the regulation and are adapted to the prevailing weather conditions“.
Which will surely please drivers, the transition from summer to winter fuel is to be completely unnoticeable. With one exception: will certainly help prevent problems with starting vehicle engines. “The properties of winter fuel ensure that there are no problems with operating the vehicle at negative temperatures (…). It would be different if drivers continued to use summer fuel – in such a case they could have problems with starting the engine, which would deepen as the temperature drops,” he explains. an expert from Orlen, quoted by the tvn24bis.pl website.
