Prisons
From Monday, prison staff will no longer strike every day in all prisons at the same time, but will strike in a different province every day. VRT News reports this.
The prison staff unions want to maintain that strike without it costing too much money for the members. That is why the unions have decided not to strike every day in all prisons at the same time from Monday. However, there will be strikes in a different province every day, VRT reports.
In West Flanders there will be a strike on April 11, 16, 24 and 29, in East Flanders on April 9, 16, 25 and 29. In Antwerp on April 12, 17, 22 and 30, in Flemish Brabant and Brussels on April 8, 17, 26 and 30. In Limburg, the guards stop work on April 10, 15, 23 and 30.
An indefinite strike has been going on in Belgian prisons since last Monday evening. The consultation with Minister of Justice Paul Van Tigchelt yesterday did not yield a solution. The guards are on strike against staff shortages and overcrowding in the prisons.
