Cinema made in Latvia has always been popular among viewers. However, for it to be excellent, there are several prerequisites that have also been fulfilled in the film Mother’s milk. The movie Mother’s milk is the story of three generations of women. The young and promising Soviet-era doctor Astra, played by Maija Doveika, but in the episodes of her youth by Elina Vaska-Boter, conflicts with the totalitarian Soviet regime, losing everything – career, love for life and even a mother’s instinct, denying her child breast milk. She is forced to abandon science and go to a country clinic, taking with her her daughter Nora, played by Ruth Cronberg, known for playing Bill in the film Bill. Growing up, the daughter becomes her only support and tries to help her mother overcome depression, and also learns to survive in the oppressive Soviet regime.
