He plays Jonas in the RTL II series “Berlin – Day & Night” and causes a commotion in front of the camera with his role: Daniel Kunz from Kassel moved to Berlin to work as an actor.
Kassel – Some people may have already discovered him on television: Daniel Kunz from Kassel plays in the reality soap “Berlin – Tag & Nacht” on RTL II. Jonas is the name of his role, with which he causes a lot of hustle and bustle in the Berlin neighborhood. The actor is in Kassel grew up and lived here until he moved last August.
“I’m still regularly in my home country, every three to four weeks, my whole family lives in Kassel,” says the 22-year-old. The actor likes to think back to his childhood and youth in the North Hessian city. He grew up in Harleshausen. He later moved to Vellmar with his parents. Born in Kassel, he graduated from the Georg-Christoph-Lichtenberg-School, which is why he spent most of his youth in Kassel. “For me, the most beautiful place in Kassel is the orangery, in general the Aue itself, especially in summer,” emphasizes the actor.
RTL2 series “Berlin – Day & Night”: With “mega-spontaneous action” to the role
His career path initially took him in a completely different direction than acting. During high school, he began working at the Timberjacks restaurant. He continued this during his studies: “I started as a waiter and worked my way up to shift manager and finally to operations manager.” After graduating from high school, he began studying business administration with a focus on tourism. He continues to do that alongside acting – from Berlin at a distance learning university.
Rather, he came to his role in the reality series “Berlin – Day & Night” by chance. “It was a mega-spontaneous action, at some point I created a sedcard at Filmpool,” says the native of North Hesse. He himself has never applied for roles. The request for his role Jonas in the RTL II series came last summer – a call to ask if he would like to. “It was a snap. After the casting, I moved to Berlin three weeks later.”
Actor Daniel Kunz feels very comfortable in Berlin
He has found a new home in the state capital. “I feel super comfortable here, I’ve built up a circle of friends and found a great girlfriend,” enthuses the 22-year-old. Above all, he appreciates the mentality of the people, the openness, diversity and tolerance of the city in his new place of residence.
Acting had been his dream job for a long time: “It was definitely my wish as a child, but something like that always seems so unattainable and that’s exactly why I wanted to take the chance when the request came.” With the role of Jonas, he became direct faced with a hurdle, because Jonas has a completely different style than his actor.
Bad boy image in “Berlin – Day & Night”
His role mixes up the Berlin neighborhood as a rebel, with which the actor cannot identify: “I don’t have that much in common with my role, this bad-boy and jail-moderate, these are really worlds between Jonas and Daniel.” Jonas says things straight out, a quality not unknown to the actor. “I can also say what bothers me, but I know better than Jonas where my limits are.”
Daniel Kunz has a formative motto for his life: If you stop wanting to get better, you stop being good. For him, this means one thing above all: “I really always give everything and always want to get better, otherwise I think you don’t achieve anything in life.” On the set, too, he always tries to work on himself in order to be able to constantly improve.
The stories about Jonas and the other actors can be followed Monday to Friday from 7:05 p.m. on RTL II and streamed at any time on RTL Plus. (Denise Dorries)
