From June 8 to 12, San Bernabé Festivities in Logroño – The GO!

Among the novelties of this year, the theatricalization of the Open Council in the Santiago Church stands out, different content for each battle incorporating a narrator for better monitoring, a Renaissance show room or catwalk and a new Spanish military camp in Parliament Square.

The Renaissance festival is maintained in the Plaza de San Bartolomé, with music, theater and picnic, the illustrated model of Renaissance Logroño in the Guardia de Santiago de Barriocepo camp, and the detonation of a vintage cannon in the French camp.

Declared Festival of National Tourist Interest, more than 66 collectives and 700 volunteers will be those who bring history to the streets of Logroño in the more than 300 events that have been programmed, and more than sixty of them aimed at children. EFamily-type shows, with comedies, children’s parties, workshops and novelties such as a Children’s Renaissance Joust because the little ones are also protagonists of these parties.

The party program starts on Thursday June 8 With the opening from 5.30 pm of the Renaissance market that can be found in the streets La Merced, Cofradía del Pez, Barriocepo, Excuevas, Plaza de Santiago, Plaza de la Oca, Plaza del Mercado and parking on Calle Mayor 99.

The Friday 9th the streets will be filled with tastings organized by the Federations of Peñas de Logroño and Casas Regionales, to which will be added those carried out by neighborhood associations and hoteliers from different areas.

The Saturday June 10 Street activities, children’s events, the market, shows and tastings will continue. At 1:30 p.m. the delivery of the Badges of Saint Barnabas and at 5.15 pm the reception for the children representing the city. This is followed by Vespers in honor of San Bernabé, in La Redonda, and the Offering of Flowers / historical evocation on the walls of Revellín. Then there will be distribution of luminaires in La Redonda and fireworks by the winning company of the X International Fireworks Competition in San Mateo 2016.

You can’t miss them The San Bernabé Clock, which will be performed on June 9, 10 and 11 at the Balcón del Ateneo Riojano.

The Sunday 11th will be marked by the traditional Cast of the Fish, and the acts in fulfillment of the Vow, like the mass and procession, or the bullfighting celebration that recreates the Vow of San Bernabé running bulls, in the plaza from 6:00 p.m. in La Ribera.

The Monday 12 the mass of Requiem for the Heroes of the defense of the City and the tasting of Toro stew in fulfillment of the Voto. To close the festivities, in the late evening the triumphal parade of Tribute to the city of Logroño will take place (Arrival of Carlos V and delivery of the Lis flowers).
