From July, Wizz Air will open a route from Prague to Sicily

The Hungarian carrier will compete with Smartwings on the route.

From July, Wizz Air will start flying from Prague to the Italian island of Sicily. Three times a week it offers flights to the second largest Sicilian city – Catania.

Wizz Air announced the new merger in a press release. Smartwings will compete on the route, which will start flying on June 6. One-way tickets without luggage start at 799 crowns, members of the Wizz Air Discount Club can get a price of around a thousand crowns on return tickets at certain dates. Wizz Air flew the same route in the summer of 2010.

Wizz Air will fly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. He will leave Prague at 15:20, from Catania at 12:20. In addition to Catania, Prague is to have a direct connection this year to Sicily to Trapani on the western tip of the island, where Ryanair wants to reconnect next week with a frequency of two flights a week.

Wizz Air has not resumed any flights from Prague yet, it has not even started a new connection to Bucharest announced last year. It currently counts on the first flights from Prague in June to Varna, plans are also planned for Larnaca, Kutaisi, Chisinau and Bari.
