Line 2 of the Lyon routes will link Fontaines-sur-Saône to Saint-Priest in 2026. It will pass through the major axes of Caluire, Lyon and Vénissieux, redeveloped for the occasion. A consultation opens on June 7 to inform and express oneself on this great project.
In 2026, the 21 km of line 2 of the Lyon routes will take you from Fontaines-sur-Saône to Saint-Priest. You will take the quays of the Saône, go up to Caluire to cross the Rhône on the Poincaré bridge, walk along the Parc de la Tête d’Or and head towards your destination, crossing Lyon and Vénissieux. All this on a lane reserved for bicycles, comfortable and secure. In 2030, the Lyon route 2 will be extended north to Cailloux-sur-Fontaines and south to Mions.
Line 2 of the Lyon routes will have a strong impact on the landscape of the agglomeration because it will transform several major highways : boulevard Stalingrad in Villeurbanne, boulevard Vivier Merle and boulevard des Tchécoslovaques in Lyon, avenue Viviani in Vénissieux, avenue Charles de Gaulle in Saint-Priest. It will also allow you to easily reach several large parks in the Metropolis by bike, the Tête d’or, the Blandan park and the Parilly park.
A first phase of work will start in 2023 between the Poincaré bridge and the avenue Berthelot. It is a portion of 5.9 km, with a production budget of 10 million euros. You can see the detail of the layouts portion by portion in the consultation file.
This future line will clearly rebalance the use of public space in favor of pedestrians and cyclists. It will also bring more vegetation to the city to make it more pleasant and fight against heat islands. Last challenge: improve the public transport service of several districts.
