“From Distance Zero” is in Oscar nominations

The Palestinian Ministry of Culture announced the nomination of “From Distance Zero” to be represented at the Academy Awards next March in Los Angeles, in the Best International Film category.

Metafora was one of the first companies that took the initiative to support the production of this project, under the direction of the Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi.

These short films combine fiction, documentary and animation, and present 22 stories by female and male directors from the Gaza Strip, filmed in extremely difficult and complex conditions under bombardment and at great risk to the life of the filmmakers. These stories refer to what the leaders themselves or what others have experienced since the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, and the stories about the loss of their homes and families and their displacement.

The Palestinian Minister of Culture, Imad Hamdan, said in a special statement that “this nomination confirms the importance and role of Palestinian cinema even in the darkest circumstances, as the makers of this work were able to tell their stories to the world and through them. the most important international and Arab forums, and documenting the human experience under “The most inhuman conditions and despite all the challenges.”
