From detection to reconstruction”

With the main objective of providing necessary elements to understand breast cancer from a comprehensive approach, the October 18 and 19 The first multidisciplinary symposium will be held: “From detection to reconstruction… I decide my story.”

The congress will bring together the voices of those who have faced this disease to understand the impact it has on all levels of a person’s life and their family environment. Alejandra Navarro, chef of the Botánico restaurant (recognized by the Michelin Guide Mexico 2024), will tell her experience with breast cancer; so will the featured writer and philanthropist Valeria Benavides.

In addition to these valuable life testimonies, the event will bring together specialists involved in the breast cancer process. The symposium is organized and coordinated by Raymundo Benjamín Priego Blancas and Anabel Villanueva Martínez, both doctors specializing in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.

“The reality of breast cancer is different in each country; in Mexico, mass breast diagnosis campaigns began in the 80s, and Forty years later, 60% are still detected in advanced stages. It is clear that we still have a lot to do in terms of prevention, timely detection and treatment.”, points out Dr. Villanueva Martínez.

The presentations on October 19, therefore, will be aimed at general practitioners, specialist doctors, medical students and residents; and will be taught by oncologists, gynecologists, plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, pathologists, psychiatrists, rehabilitators, dermatologists, geneticists, clinical nutritionists, among other professionals with recognized experience in decisive areas in the breast cancer process.
