“It was so bad that the school had to take care of my safety,” Cui said.
She added, “I began to suffer from anorexia, depression and anxiety at the same time. I was bullied because I was fat since the age of five, and thus developed anorexia.”
And she continued, “I became eating 300 calories a day, and the bullying definitely exacerbated my anorexia, and my colleagues described me as too skinny.”
“I’m actually from a fairly poor background, so it was really hard to see opportunities to compete.”
The 23-year-old began competing in beauty pageants and went on to become one of Britain’s most successful beauty pageants, winning two of the biggest titles
“As far as I know, there is no one in recent history who has won both the Miss England and Miss World titles,” she explained.
Koi stressed the need to combat bullying, in addition to increasing the culture of enjoying a healthy and ideal weight among children and adolescents.
