According to its website, Primera Air will operate daily flights between Brussels Airport and Newark International Airport (New York) from 9 May 2019. From 2 June, the airline will operate three flights a week (on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays) from Zaventem Airport to Washington Dulles Airport. Primera Air will fly to Boston from 4 June four times a week (on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from Brussels).
The prices of a single flight to New York and Boston start from 149 euros, flying to Washington is from 189 euros. Luggage and a meal must be paid extra. The flights will be operated with a Boeing 737 MAX 9.
Boston is a new destination for Brussels Airport. On the routes to New York and Washington, Primera Air competes with companies such as Brussels Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
Brussels Airport is of course “pleased” with the arrival of a first low-cost airline that will offer direct transatlantic flights. “With its low-fare offer, the arrival of Primera Air once again confirms that our airport offers the widest range of airlines for all passengers,” airport chief Arnaud Feist is quoted as saying in a press release.
“Our mission is to make expensive transatlantic travel history,” said Anastasija Visnakova, Primera Air’s Head of Marketing. “Our arrival will provide local travelers with the opportunity to fly to the US and Canada in an affordable way and bring more North American travelers to Brussels.”
Primera Air also flies to North America from London and Paris.
