From autumn, students will receive more study grants – education

From autumn 2022, needy students should receive more money: the study grant will be increased by 8.5 to twelve percent from September, Education Minister Martin Polaschek (ÖVP) announced at a press conference on Tuesday. The age limit for eligibility is to be increased by three years to 33 or 38 and the method of calculation is to be reformed. In addition, there is an increase in the income limits for receiving and decoupling study grants from family allowances. Although the measures are a step in the right direction, it is not enough to counteract student poverty, according to the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH).
