The public channel La 1 is already organizing a new competition for its prime time, a talent show called The dancer, in which they will participate dancers of all types and conditions, trying to win the final prize of 25,000 euros.
The dancer It is a competition which has already been launched in other countries and which was created by Simon Cowell, the same ideologue from other competitions What X factor or To have talent.
The competition has the following mechanisms: The competitor (s), as they can be individual or in groups and there is from 8 years youngest to 74 years oldest, they ring at a door outside the studios of Freemantle, producer of the format for La 1.
They are then greeted by a receptionist, named Mariú. She has her own curious story: Mariú is a writer for the program, who signed up to select applicants, but it ended in front of the cameras after a casting that the program did as part of its own team.
She takes care of welcome the candidates and ask them about their history, their motivations, interacting with them… something that will not be private, as we will see later.
From the interview, they go to the so-called Hall of Mirrors, a room that replicates the rehearsal space of any school: parquet, light and gigantic mirror be seen dancing and correcting mistakes.
What competitors probably don’t know is that behind that mirror is a gigantic set from which the three captains of the competition look at them, Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Rafa Méndez and Lola Indigo, as well as the audience and the two presenters, Ion Aramendi and Sandra Cervera.
These, the public, are fundamental, because They are the ones who will decide who will or will not move on to the next phase.
Before that, the captains and the public was able to see the arrival of the competitor at the reception, so they know his story and his personality.
The close 240 people in the audience have a button. If they want the competitor to be successful, they push a button.
But it is not only the quality of the number played by the dancers that counts: each of the competitors takes with them a person who pleads in front of the number in favor of the artist he accompanies.
If at least at 75% of the audience on the set is touched by the story, the statement or the number, and vote yes, the big mirror opens and the artist goes from dancing alone in a room to being in front of the captains and the audience, which causes many surprises, because most think that they are only doing ‘a casting.
Thus, they must continue to dance even if their audience has gone from 0 to almost 250 in a few seconds. Or even if the mirror doesn’t openThey will have to follow the way they came.
Once their number is complete and if they have been chosen go to the second phase: the selection. This can happen in two ways. At the end of each gala, all selected artists take the stage and the captains can choose one for their team. But in addition, in each program, one of the captains may have the power to sign one of the candidates immediately after their representation, with which it will go directly to the semi-finals.
In total there will be six audition galas, one called The final decision, Where there is another screening of candidates and finally, the semi-finals and the final. In total, 11 galas of about two hours each.
In all, 74 dance numbers will be seen ranging from classical disciplines to traditional Spanish folklore, flamenco, ballroom dance, modern dance …
