The level in the US is significantly lower, Govaert notes. ‘I could easily stop the ball there, hit it three or four times and then have a nice pass. This is not possible here. The difference is mainly in the basic technique, which makes everything much faster here. Whether you play first grade or third grade, anyone can stop here and pass well. It’s real hockey here, instead of playing with the ball.”
