The De Croo government has reached a final agreement on the budget. Below is an overview of what was decided.

Tax reforms
• From working singles can count on a tax reduction of 50 euros. For a working couple it even goes up to 150 euros. In addition, the deduction for childcare will increase. Read more >
• Taks on plane tickets for flights of less than 500 kilometres. The government wants to discourage business trips to Paris or London by plane.
Work

• ‘Free’ recruitment of the first employee. The measure not to ask for social security contributions for the first recruitment has been extended. It applies indefinitely and irrespective of the employee’s wages. It has been agreed that a maximum of 4,000 euros in social security contributions may be deducted per quarter on a first recruitment.
• Right to training: each employee will be entitled to five days of training annually. So it is no longer about an average within a company.
• Relaxation of night work in ecommerce. Night work would no longer apply from 8 p.m. The starting time will be set later in consultation with the trade unions.

On top of the 1.25 million euros in the European recovery plan and the 328 million euros allocated in April, an additional 1 billion euros will be added as part of the recovery. According to Mobility Minister Georges Gilkinet (Ecolo), 250 million euros of this will go to rail.
final budget
