The wireless charger can detect where a device is in the room and then send power directly to it. The phone must have a special antenna to receive the charge properly.

Xiaomi’s technology does not charge very quickly: the connection can send a maximum of 5 watts to a device. But because this can also be done while you are using the phone, this may be enough to continuously use your smartphone indoors.
Xiaomi has not yet disclosed plans to sell the charger. It is currently a new technology, which can be used in the “near future”. Then it should also work with devices such as speakers, lamps and smartwatches.

Motorola
More manufacturers are working on new ways to charge gadgets at greater distances. Motorola has Friday in a demonstration video phones that can be charged wirelessly at a distance of about one meter from a small charging station.
In the video, a Motorola employee holds his hand in front of the device to demonstrate that this would have no effect on the wireless charging. Details about the technology, Motorola One Hyper, the company has not yet disclosed.
