A novelty that we can say is really imminent. Perhaps many motorists will not like it, as cars will no longer be the same as we have known them until now.
The world of motoring is constantly evolving. A not insignificant novelty destined to debut starting from 6 July – or rather, it must be part of the new cars that will make their debut after that date – proves it. It is ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance) technology. An innovation adapted by law.
To be sure, many cars in Europe already have speed limit assistance, but these safety systems currently need to be activated by the driver. With the new EU regulations, however, the ISA will be active automatically. Then of course, drivers will be able to deactivate this system on every journey. But it is still an excellent idea that will certainly change many things for the good of the automotive industry and its customers.
Automatic speed limit, the EU says yes: all the details
Speed limit, important news coming from 6 July at the behest of the European Union. News that manufacturers will be able to choose how to use, the ISA branded one. Perhaps, the “warnings” to motorists could be in the form of an acoustic or vibration warning.
Or, with a kind of tactile feedback via the accelerator pedal or active slowing of the car. In any case, one of these optional modalities will have to be incorporated in the cars to come. Notoriously “inattentive” motorists will not be immediately convinced by the new technology that tastes so much of a four-wheel revolution, but it is a great novelty in view of the future of the automotive sector.
For the moment, however, the ISA technology will only be applied to the very new models that will be launched in a few days. The vehicles already released on the market, on the other hand, will have time until 2024 to be equipped with this novelty. A real legislation that will certainly also be applied in the United Kingdom, even if it has not been part of the European Union for some time now. The reason why it was decided to go down this route is clearly related to safety.
A measure that could reduce accidents by 30% and deaths by 20. Important numbers, which actually approach the target set by the EU (zero deaths due to accidents by 2050). ISA will be deactivated at the moment for once per journey, in particular conditions such as during overtaking, an action that requires maximum thrust on the acceleration of the car.
