Get ready for a week full of culture, music and celebrations in New York! Here we present a selection of unmissable events taking place from 14 to 20 November:
1. “Storied Lens” at LATEA Theatre
The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center and LATEA Theater present “Storied Lens”, an exhibition of photographs by Puerto Rican artist Máximo Rafael Colón. This exhibition, which is part of the XIX BORIMIX festival, celebrates the legacy of Puerto Ricans in New York and will be open from November 14 to January 15, 2025 at the Tamayo Gallery of the LATEA Theater. Do not miss the conversation between Mercedes Trelles and Colón on Saturday, November 16, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
2. “Christmas in Colombia” at the Thalia Spanish Theater
Celebrate Colombia’s Christmas traditions with the musical show “Christmas in Colombia,” which returns by popular demand. This show runs from November 15th to December 15th, with performances on Friday and Saturday at 8pm, and Sunday at 4pm at the Thalia Spanish Theatre, located in Sunnyside, Queens.
3. “Moonrise” at the Paradise Club
Enjoy “Moonrise,” a show that pays homage to the ancient goddesses of the moon. This event combines dance, gymnastics and visual poetry, with an exceptional menu designed by Michelin-starred chef John Fraser. There will be shows on November 15, 16, 22 and 23, from 7 to 10 pm at Club Paradise, Manhattan.
4. Afro-Latin and Flamenco Dance at Queen’s College
The Kupferberg Center for the Arts presents a dynamic evening of live dance and music, with more than a dozen artists on stage. This event will be held on Saturday, November 16 at 7pm at the LeFrak Concert Hall.
5. Tango Night at the Guggenheim
On Monday, November 18, enjoy an evening dedicated to tango at Works Process at the Guggenheim. Also, you will have the opportunity to explore the exhibition “Harmony and Dissonance: Orphism in Paris, 1910–1930” at the Peter B. Lewis Theatre.
6. “Holiday Lights of Harlem”
On Tuesday, November 19th, join in celebrating the beginning of the Christmas season in Harlem with Harlem Holiday Lights. This free event starts at 6pm and will include a parade full of lighted flowers, musical entertainment and activities for the whole family.
7. Ivy Queen in Carnegie Hall
Finally, don’t miss Ivy Queen’s Carnegie Hall debut on Wednesday, November 20 at 8:00 pm on the Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. This event is part of the “Our Sounds” series and promises to be an unforgettable experience.
