GOTHENBURG. Frölunda has taken two straight victories with a knife to his throat.
There was a 3-1 win in match six in front of a boiling Scandinavium.
– It’s huge, says David Edstrom.
Now awaits match seven against Skellefteå in Västerbotten on Thursday evening after 3–1 in a boiling Scandinavium.
Frölunda equalized at 3–3 in matches, the match-deciding 2–1 goal was scored by Max Friberg who got an open goal.
It was also the anniversary of the Frölunda captain’s 100th goal in the Gothenburg club.
The semi-final series between Frölunda and Skellefteå continued to be intense, eventful and emotional.
The beginning of match six was very much dominated by Frölunda playing the power play.
– In 1.40 I felt that this could be interesting. Then we spent an extremely long time in the expulsion booth. It’s absolutely insane, says Skellefteå’s coach Robert Ohlsson.

Like Joel and Ryan
On a five-on-four play early in the second period, David Edstrom scored the go-ahead goal thanks to quick opening passing plays.
A variant that is recognizable from Ryan Lasch to Joel Lundqvist, now it was Max Friberg to David Edstrom.
– He (Friberg) has played with them a lot before and it works, so why not try?, says Edstrom.
Jere Innala then put the final 3–1 goal between the legs of Linus Söderström from a free position.
Direct decisive match
In the third period, Jonathan Johnson scored the equalizer from close range.
During the first period, Frölunda also had a five-minute numerical advantage after the match penalty on Andreas Johnson, plus another two-minute expulsion.
It continued with the powerplay for both teams in the second period as well, creating lots of scoring chances and hits in the goal frame.
– Now we have a seventh and decisive match in Skellefteå in two days. It will be incredibly fun to play. We have played one before (against Leksand) and know what is required in a decisive match, that is when you have to be at your best, says Edstrom.
For the Gothenburg-born 19-year-old, it was a big evening.
– Really big. This is what you dreamed of as a child. I’m a Gothenburg guy and I’ve always watched Frölunda, both on the sofa and in Scandinavium. It’s great fun.
In the pot in the last and directly decisive match there is a SM final against clear Rögle.
